To get away from the hordes of climbers and day-trippers at Muir, we had set up our tents on the upper part of the Cowlitz Glacier, about 100 ft uphill from the main camp. Hidden behind a snow ridge, we enjoyed relative peace and quiet at this location. Looking east, we see the stone Public Shelter and solar outhouses of Camp Muir, surrounded by the tents of climbers. Above camp is the rock pinnacle of Point 10188, with the Cowlitz Glacier descending off to the left and the top of the Muir Snowfield at right.
