We unroped and took off our packs on the northeast rim, resting and attempting to warm up in the morning sun. The temperature was near 25 degrees F, with very light winds. Since we were the first party to summit, we planned to rest for a couple of hours to allow other teams to summit and thus be off of the route before our descent. This view looks northwest at Liberty Cap (14112 ft), a remnant of Rainier's original uneroded volcanic cone, with Seattle and Puget Sound hidden beyond it.
