Above and left of the rim of Sherman Crater the route followed the 35 degree slopes of the Roman Wall. It would have been possible to ski up in a series of long traverses, but since Alex was already on foot we decided it would be much faster for both of us to hike straight up in crampons. We reached the summit dome by noon, putting our skis back on and ski touring around the dome for nearly an hour. We climbed and skied the true summit (Grant Peak) just east of the dome, but unfortunately I had left the camera in my pack several hundred yards away, and so we have no summit photo.
