We skied the upper Winthrop Glacier, then traversed a few hundred feet on foot past the bergschrund to reach the large bowl on the Emmons. In this bowl, the snow had refrozen in the late hour, providing a slick and smooth surface very similar to an icy ski area run. This provided consistent and reasonably enjoyable ski conditions. A huge wall of serac blocks forms an impressive background as Tom skis down the bowl. (Sorry, I had the camera tilted, I've attempted to correct this using the horizon as a reference.)
