The next morning we set out at 6 AM, skinning up in perfect snow conditions with hazy sun. We gained the crest of Heliotrope Ridge just right of Point 6029, and then ascended the ridge just left of the crest. From about 6500 ft, this view shows the summit of Mount Baker at left, with the rocky summits of the Black Buttes (Colfax and Lincoln Peaks) at right.
