From the 9000 ft saddle, there was a fine view of Puget Sound to the west with the Olympics in the distance. Just above this there was a short 45 degree slope which we ascended side-stepping with ski crampons, in order to access the snow ridge along the NW edge of the Deming Glacier. As we gained the ridge, the roar of three snowmobiles burst the bubble of solitude, as they screamed ILLEGALLY up the Coleman all the way to the saddle just below us.
