As we climbed higher, the pitch of the glacier steepened somewhat, approaching a modest 30 degrees before passing through an icy notch connecting the upper and lower halves of the Sitkum Glacier. Just below the notch, this view looking north finds snowcapped Mount Baker (10778 ft, left) and Mount Shuksan (9127 ft, right) peeking through the distant morning haze.
