The snow in the morning was hard frozen, so ski conditions on the gentle slopes outside the rim looked poor. In addition, the road which goes around the lake was closed by deep snow except for a short stretch along the southwest side, preventing us from approaching our original objective of Mount Scott. This panorama was taken from the deck behind the Crater Lake Lodge. We ate a leisurely breakfast at the restaurant before driving on to our next goal, Mount Thielsen, which is the dark pyramid visible in the distance far beyond the lake.
