Mount Overlord is the highest volcano in Victoria Land, located about 50 miles (80 km) inland from the
Ross Sea up the broad valley of the Aviator Glacier. It forms an asymmetrical cone perched on the edge
of a plateau above the glacier, topped by an 1.2 mile (0.8 km) diameter caldera. Although most of the
cone is ice-covered, exposed volcanic rocks on the western slope have been dated to about 7 million
years, so Mount Overlord is almost certainly long extinct.
