Hasan Dagi is an attractive double-peaked stratovolcano in southern Cappadocia, actually consisting of
a pair of lava domes extruded above the collapsed caldera of an earlier volcano. Like many of the
other Turkish volcanoes, it has been rapidly gaining popularity with European skiers over the past
several years, both ski mountaineers and heli-skiers. The standard climbing and skiing routes begin
from small villages on the north side of the mountain, although a road along the southern flanks of the
massif appears to provide excellent access too. The barren, nearly treeless slopes provide
possibilities for outstanding ski descents in nearly any direction.
