Finally we got our act in gear and began our ascent through the woods after 10 am. We soon hit continuous snow at 6000 ft, but decided to keep climbing on foot instead of skinning up. However, we soon realized that we had lost the trail in the snow, as we had followed the most heavily used set of tracks and this had led us well north of the shortest route. We ended up on the broad west ridge, with this photo of the summit visible behind Alex taken from near 6900 ft.
